La Cala de Mijas is the most nearby village, and lies at a very wide beach in a lovely bay. Here you can find many little stores, promenades and a very nice townsquare with bars and restaurants to linger for a very long time...
Mijas Pueblo is a so-called "pueblo blanco" (white village) and therefore a place worth visiting.
At a few kilometres from Fuengirola the road swings up the hills to the picturesque town of Mijas-Pueblo.
It lies about 5 km from the coast at 400 m above sealevel.
You can find several art gallery's with very nice and artisanal products, many shops and bars, but also an artisanal bull arena and bull museum, that are both worth visiting. Take place at a terrace of one of the many restaurants and let yourself be enchanted...
Take a ride on one of the donkey taxi's through the white village. With or without there carriage they allow tourists to make a nice tour arround the village.
TIP : Make sure to have a look at the old defensive walls of the town. Beeing there gives you a breathtaking view to the Costa or coast of Fuengirola.
Marbella is the place to be in Andalucia. With a very sunny climate, even during wintertime 20° Celcius , the countless restaurants and bars and the lively nightlife, Marbella stays on top of the list when visiting the Costa del Sol.
Here you find something for everybody. From the port to the old town, little shops and big brand stores, one long 'golden mile' and a boardwalk that connects Marbella with the luxurious Puerto Banús. In short this is a town that is great for visiting all year trough, day- or nighttime.
Fuengirola is a seaside town. With its 8 kilometres long beach there is a place for everybody.
There is a wide "paseo" (boardwalk) that stretches across the entire length and enables a nice long walk (also with a wheelchair). Also, Fuengirola is a lively town with a lot of shops, retail and shoppingcentra of which MIRAMAR is the biggest.
The old town is very authentic and you can still see the daily routine of elderly locals maunder arround the squares while later in the evening there is music and dance to be found everywhere.
An abundance of restaurants and bars make Fuengirola a very nice place for an evening out.
Ojén is a comune in the spanish province of Malaga with a 86 km² acreage. The Spanish world star Julio Iglesias has a house here.
Puerto Bañus is, with its marina, the rendezvous point of the jetset at the Costa del Sol. The port fees on some of the best places in the harbour can be up to € 500.000 per square metre. The yachts in this harbour are up to 70 metres long. The richest people on earth willingly show there boats and cars. Just to look doesn't cost you, so it is nice strolling by the numerous yachts in this harbour.
Also ,Puerto Bañus is the centre of nightlife, so baillamos !
Benalmádena is a town between Torremolinos and Fuengirola.
Benalmádena is well known in Belgium en Holland as a destination for a nice vacation.
You can find hundreds of hotels, restaurants and bars and that turns Benalmádena into a mass-tourist destination.
However, there is a unique place, the marina, that looks very nice during the day or in the evening. It sure is worth a visit.
The whole harbour and its surrounding buildings are made in GAUDI style, and there used to be a lot of famous people that had a residence here.
TIP : At several locations in the harbour you can book a dolphin spotting tour by boat.
Málaga is the capital of the province Málaga.
Aside of the airport, Málaga is mostly known for it beautiful buildings with beautiful architecture, big shoppings streets, harbour boardwalk and of course its football stadium (Rosaleda). There are also a lot of beaches, little alleys ans very nice bars and restaurants and malls. In short: Málaga is surely worth a visit.
